  • Support for self-hosted command center?

    Trying to see who would want a self hosted command center? Not the licensing, just the management. Reasons would be;

    1. Command center is super slow with remote access much of the time. The proxy connection would be much faster for some of us as the overall latency would be lower.

    2. Security - Rather than hosted on a public cloud where everyone has access, self hosted could be locked down with no public access. There have been way too many instances of public cloud hosted platforms getting compromised. Personally, I'll take my chances where I can have tighter control over access.

UT is paying attention and the more people who get behind this, the more likely it is to happen.

There are no plans to have self hosted Command Center.

The ssl-proxy feature really need some tuning and if possible some geo spreading. (Thinks all of the servers I have gone over has been in the USA).

Some over here in Europe would be nice :-)

Why not set up your favorite vpn for access? And disable command center here. IP/admin/index.do#config/system/support

That's fine and dandy and the go to for major mgmt of clients servers..

But when your an IT company like us with many UT severs out their it's not time conducive to constantly be logging into each customer's server over various VPNS to get info, status, etc...

Command center and it's mobile app give a nice overview, status and information of ALL the servers we manage and I believe is the purpose of Command center in the first place.. Just my $0.02... does it have it's drawbacks and issues, sure. But it does what we need it for...

If I'm in the office and have a bunch of setup or changes to do on a client's server, yes we Wireguard in and open browser using local IP....

And people wonder why I never used the Command Center... never really got excited about it...

Untangle is too busy trying to destroy NGFW by making us use Micro Edge instead slowly over time, with a purchasing model that makes Meraki make more sense.

Doesn't matter, no 2FA on local admin login means no insurance benefit to having Untangle which means it can no longer be ethically sold to the US market in 2022.

GG Untangle, it's over now and it's all your fault.

But thanks will give it a try and see if that give a better user experience.

It will be rolled out shortly to everyone.

Yes it requires a separate account. They are completely separate systems.

Will there be a "move" button?

I don't want to rejoin all my units/accounts etc.

And why have it as a separate when the infrastructure exist in you AWS platform to have one global app/system but distributed it geographical for load and speed benefits.

Who on your side are in charge of these thing nowadays?

I don't want more complexity and needing to know special URL's just to get a better experience that should be built in to the infrastructure.

Currently there is no move feature. I can see that as useful though.

The reason for the two separate system is partially due to EU regulation and some partners not wishing their data on U.S. based systems.

Super cool that you have noticed that to compile with some laws/regulations the data need to be stored/process in our region!

But the best end user experience form my standpoint would have been to have a global setting in my Command Center of what region my default preferences where.

But allowing override per Appliance as a reseller or end user might be a global beast where some offices/units need to be in another region.

Now you give me something I need but in away that feels just weird and that someone drop a few balls..
Guess that it is not design with any End user involved.
