  • What's New Button broken?

It's sending me to the advanced search screen without results.

The view all button on the bottom of the Trending box seems to work though, but not nearly as convenient.

Also, a dark theme would be greatly appreciated. Until then, I have a plugin.

Also the Mark Channels Read needs to be put in a more convent location, currently it's at the bottom of all the treads on the home page.

I use a browser plugin myself so I haven't tested this, but there's a 'Dark' theme in the drop-down for 'Forum Style', found in User Settings > Account (towards the bottom).

The suggested setting doesn't exist on the indicated page.

I had to zoom out a bit, but you can clearly see there is no Forum Style setting at all. Also, if there's a setting to invert the posts such that the oldest is at the top... that'd be great too. This forum feels upside down!

Well, expletive deleted. I've no idea why it wouldn't be there.

          I hadn't even noticed, but I'll ask!

On the right side there is a "Latest Topics" heading. As of now it shows three entries and "View All". Maybe that could be changed to ten or select-able similar to the old forum software.

If you click "View All" it returns a search result. Maybe you could bookmark that url? Don't know if that is dynamically generated? Seems to be because it expires.

Please don't spend a lot of time fixing the forum. We will get over it the way it is.

This link based on last visit seems to work.

At the top of each forum thread there is a posts button, next to a latest activity button. The latter is the default when you click into any thread. This drives me nuts... but at least clicking posts gets me the historical thread view with old stuff at the bottom instead of the top.

Sadly, I've also just discovered I cannot edit my signature. Add it to the list of things that should be in my account profile that just flat isn't there. I may have to try making a new forum account.

Nevermind I'm blind, found the signature. I'll figure out this new forum yet!

What's worked for me is this:

                  1) Make sure I'm logged in first.
                  2) Click What's New tab
                  3) On the "Advanced Search page" that comes up click the "Last Visit" checkbox
                  4) Click the "Search Now" button on the bottom.

This workflow is at least usable... but it's still so very bad. If you are logged in, clicking the "What's New" tab should skip showing the Advanced Search tab at all, and do steps 3 and 4 for us.

Even if we get that, we'll still be worse off than before. Instead of showing each individual post the old forums would instead show us the topics/threads that had updated, and we could then click through or not. We didn't have to browse past of a bunch of posts in a topic we were not necessarily following. Also, in cases where there were no new results it would still show the last 6 to 12 updated topics, so you could keep what was current in your head.

I know a lot of sales-driven organizations don't like public forums like this. Forums collect a lot of complaints and tend to showcase the rough edges of a product, and so sales people often see them as a place where leads decide NOT to make the purchase. It's why a lot of products only offer a mailing list (or nothing). This has me worried the new management will decide the poor forum experience is by design. What I hope they understand instead is these forums preserve customers, both by solving their issues faster and by helping engineering/product managers correctly identify pain points and features. Without them, people instead move on to the next greener pasture. Additionally, I also hope they understand a poor forum experience is worse than no forums, because then only the first-time poster/complainers remain, with no friendly people to help work through the issues collected.

Additionally, the Mark Channels Read should be moved to a more convenient spot on the home page rather than being at the bottom of every tread.
