  • VPn Throughput - E3

    Guys,

Working on a Video for this Ed Edge-Micro device. I have setup a wire guard VPN. I'm doing a speed transfer through the vpn and its like 8mb's one way and 3mb's the other. Is it supposed to be this low ?

The main site has a 1/1 fiber connection. The edge Micro is connected to a 600/150 connection.

It should be much faster. Note that your download speed is based on the upload and download speed of the remote side. One thing to try is lowering the MTU of the client system that is generating the speed test. For example setting it to 1420.

Thanks for putting together the video. I'm happy to hear that you appreciate the addition of TOTP and the performance improvements of the user interface.
In your demo you set up a site to site type of configuration, and for this type of network we have even further simplified things with Software-defined Networks that let's you configure the same thing with a few clicks.
For full tunnel routing, you need to set up the profile as "Roaming" in NG Firewall, then copy the configuration and paste it into Micro Edge. Instructions here.
I'm not sure if that will improve the file transfer speed though. You may check in NG Firewall to see if QoS and Bandwidth Control are enabled, or if QoS is enabled in Micro Edge. Otherwise, it may be that there is some other reason for the reduced bandwidth with Windows based file shares. Generally we test using iperf3.

Just spent the evening changing the ISP's with the Edge-Micro E3, and did a network test again and get 18.6mb's both directions Gota love that Symmetrical 1gig connection's
