It would be nice if Untangle provided proxmox images. In the mean time I have installed both the exsi and virtual box images, The virtual box seems to be much better. Probably because it uses some form of kvm. Your mileage may differ.

The images are based on openwrt and quite small to run on minimal appliances. Untangle should add a few things to make them more relevant to the virtual environment the images will be running on. First being increase the disk size. This would allow things like a bash history and more logging. Maybe even running on a ram disk. Or a power/restart option.

There's nothing to "support". It's built into the OS!

Official support? Maybe? But the stock installer works just fine... at least it has for the two attempts I've made at it. As usual the primary headache is mapping out the virtual networking.

This is the sd-wan forum. So we are talking openwrt not debian.

Support as in an install image tweaked to proxmox like the esxi or virtualbox images.

And yes it does work pretty well with the vdi image with some tweaking. Probably because vb uses kvm. Esxi not as good. I think it would need some tweaks that require a certain kernel version. But untangle builds there own kernel.

Yeah see... I guess I'm weird because I don't use those images... ever. And I'm not talking about with just Untangle, I don't ever use deployment images for any product on any platform. The only exceptions are the ones tuned for cloud platforms, like Azure or AWS, and even those I try to avoid using.

It's the same thing for Windows servers even... I install them, 100% from ground to deployment. That way I know what's going on in there! It saves headaches...

Well the stock image ran into speed and licence issues. But that was the first version. Maybe that has changed, The vm images are supposed to not require a license. Although the latest update broke that. How is that patch going?

Ignore me, I neglected to notice what forum this was in. I haven't played with SD-WAN much, I've only stuffed NG Firewall into Proxmox.

I honestly am not sure what OS OpenWRT is based on, which I think is what SD-WAN is built on... so I'm clueless here sorry.

It would be nice if the forum was a bit more obvious that it was sd-wan. I guess for new posts I will put sd-wan in the title.

Openwrt has it's own os but feels like a debian fork. Just my opinion.
