UltraSurf is not being blocked by Application Control Trail Version

Dear Team ,

Could you please advise if Application Control can stop UltraSurf and other proxies. I want to purchase it but want to make sure that the application control works. Also i would like to know how to block youtube for all but few users.

Are you using tarpit or block in Application Control? For proxies, tarpit must be used or the proxy will recognize the block and reconfigure the packets or ports used to get around the blockage.

Defecting these private proxies is an arms race. Changes in the proxy will change the signature and not match. It's never going to be a solution 100% of the time. Quotas and QoS usage can minimize the effects of these proxies on your next.

Tarpit doesn't help at all. Please help as i want to know exactly how to block ultrasurf before buying NG complete.

That is correct. Untangle does not seem to flag/tarpit or blog ultrasurf or similar proxy-s

I also tried built-in VPN in Opera beta (http://www.opera.com/blogs/desktop/2...r-windows-mac/) ... it does not seem to be neither detected not flagged by Untangle.

Yes it does, when configured correctly. That last bit is the catch, because the target you're defining is moving, and requires constant vigilance. In some cases SSL inspector is required too now.
