Web Filter is a better tool to block websites.

Application Control can detect and block "application" traffic. This relies on properly detecting the application and using block or tarpit depending on the application.

vk.com is https by default, web filter lite cannot handle HTTPs, this action requires web filter. Given that we're in the application control lite forum, I'm going to assume the OP has an unsubbed box and that's why it's not working.

Darkl0rd, you need Web Filter to do what you're trying to do.

                Thats what that screenshot is.

Like sky-knight said, web filter lite does not process HTTPS.

My main concerns before buying NG Firewall is that it should be able to block vk.com , ok.ru these are Social Networking sites. They are using https connection and i think application control lacks their signatures as well.
                    Please advise.
                    Thanks,

Untangle works. If WILL block what you tell it to. Go over your rules and make sure the web filter rules are correct, and that you are actually processing traffic from your test hosts (ie: you correctly put untangle inline with your internet connection, and that your test host is seen on the rack where the rules are). Session viewer is helpful for this.

So guys after purchasing the Firewall i am able to block the sites without any problem. My Question why the trail version failed ? and was not blocking the sites ?

                          Thanks,
                          Sal

There is no difference beteween trial and licensed. Most likely your browser was caching the site.
