  • Rules based on Application Category not working

I've created a rule for category: Streaming Media

It seems to be having no effect. But if I block all the applications individually that are in the Streaming Media category, that blocks them as intended.

Shouldn't rules based on Application Category work?

They do, but they don't take precedence over blocks in the Applications tab. Rules take a bit longer to be effectively catalogued/identified: Why are my Application Control rules not taking effect?

In the case of streaming content, the amount of additional packets necessary to identify the traffic may be enough that the content loads & plays.

I'm sometimes leery of the attribute Application Control: Application Category, if I'm honest. I assume you're just copy/pasting the category name from the Category column in the Applications tab? Do you find that rules based on other criteria work as intended?
