I am also having trouble emailing reports and would appreciate any help. I'm very new (first post, Hi!) to untangle and this is only a home setup, so please forgive any ignorance I'm showing with the product.

Host:cedar.mine.nu (dyndns address) running as router(NAT)
directly connected to basic cable modem (Earthlink via TimeWarner/RoadRunner cable)
      Build: 10.0.0~svn20131211r36618release10.0-1squeeze w kernel: 2.6.32-5-untangle-amd64

The “direct” email setting created frozen emails (via test or email generation) so I created an earthlink email account: [email protected] to both send and receive reports with the following email settings (per earthlink):
      smtpauth.earthlink.net on port 587
authentication: [email protected] & password (confirmed).

Using the configuration above with the “Test Email” function, I receive the test email! Unfortunately, when report generation runs, the result is a “frozen” email. Thanks to the "Reports" FAQ I knew to check /var/log/exim4/mainlog which shows:

      [for the successful test email]

      2013-12-27 17:33:56 1Vwgui-0007zp-3q <= [email protected] H=localhost [127.0.0.1] P=esmtp S=672 id[email protected]

      2013-12-27 17:33:57 1Vwgui-0007zp-3q Completed

[and for the failed report email]

2013-12-27 17:44:51 1Vwh5F-0008SU-RA ** [email protected] R=smarthost T=remote_smtp_smarthost: SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data: host smtpauth.earthlink.net [207.69.189.201]: 550 Your message does not conform to RFC2822 standard
      2013-12-27 17:44:51 1Vwh5F-0008SU-RA Frozen (delivery error message)

I've also included the header directly from the /var/spool/exim4/input for the failed email at pastebin.com/yRYHTcc6

Googling the "550 Your message does not conform to RFC2822 standard" error doesn't provide me anything obvious to try. And FWIW the error occurs whether I have "Attach Detailed Report Logs to Email" on or off.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

      Thanks! - Don

        Earthlink is still around?!? WOW!

That error is Earthlink's mail server claiming the e-mail being transmitted isn't formed properly. Obviously... it is, otherwise it wouldn't be working for everyone else. I'd try using a different SMTP server. My SMTP server works, Google's SMTP server works, COX's SMTP server works... so I sadly have to blame Earthlink's SMTP server here.

Well you say that, but when I try to download reports when they're sent to an OSX server (even 10.9), the attachments don't show (they will in local webmail). It's something odd to do with how it's attached, so I wouldn't dismiss it completely out of hand.

If they show in the webmail and don't show in your local mail client, it's something up with your client downloading the mail, not the mail server. The webmail is just an imap client of the mail server, it's just another client too.

It seems to be a combination of OSX server, apple mail, and untangle's attachment method - that is the only combination that yields issues with attachments. Mail/osx server has no issues with email from other senders or exchange.

Yes, Earthlink is still alive an kicking, and an important one for those of us who still have to resort to dial-up (!) from time to time. One of the greatest casualties of moving to a rural location was losing much of our ISP choice. :-(

I created a spare gmail account (to not leave an existing account credentials in a plain text file) and am using it to send & rec/forward reports and everything seems to be working fine (after one odd hiccup when it stopped sending for a few days in a week we were away, but which a reboot seems to have "fixed").

Thanks for the help! - Don

For the last two days (nights) I'm no longer receiving email reports to Gmail. After the upgrade (to 15.1, 10 days ago) email reports worked OK, but they just stopped suddenly. Is it Untangle's mail relay server or Gmail's fault?

I am not sure why this thread is not closed.

In general, it is not good form to pile on top of a 3-yr old thread.

I have a lot of questions that need to be answered in order to troubleshoot this.

Do know that I have two boxes on v15.1 and personal Gmail, and two boxes on 14.2 with G Suite that are still working.

Here are two posts that might help. after getting that tightened up, please start a new thread in this same forum is fine.

                        Thanks Jim! Email works again!

Thank you @soldier for your post. I hadn't noticed that our daily reports (setup in 2014 with help from this very thread) stopped after the 2020-06-25 report (rec'd 2 AM on 2020-06-26). FWIW the email Test function also failed to work. Extra strange since neither Gmail Auth nor Untangle settings have changed in the last week.

And thank you @Jim.Alles for solving the issue! Your clear instructions helped me wean off of the cloud/relay and once again email works. Thanks man!
