  • Instant Event Alerts: Send system and web filter alerts to different users?

In Config > Events > Alerts, you can set rules for which events create alerts.
In Apps > Reports > Reports Users, you can set the users that receive alerts.

As the administrator for this system, I want to receive alerts relating to the system, performance related and other problems etc..
We are a school, so I want the safeguarding team to receive alerts relating to serious web filter category blocks.

I can set both of these types of alerts up, however I cannot choose which alerts go to which users. I don't want to see the safeguarding alerts, and they don't want to see system alerts.

How do I work around this?

The Email Templates setting in the Reports User config enables you to choose which emails go to which Reports User.

      Hi Graeme,

It looks like there's been a misunderstanding. I detailed the setting you've referred to in my original post on the second line. What this setting does is allow you to choose which reports go to which users. In this case, I am talking about alerts. Regarding alerts, there is a tickbox for each user, you can either set them to be sent to the user, or not sent to the user, you cannot specify which alerts are sent to which users.

For example, let's say I set up two alerts (In Config > Events > Alerts):

      1. Alert me when any user visits a website under the category "Violence"
      2. Alert me when the CPU usage is above 50%

Considering I can only enable or disable the sending of alerts, this means that I (as the system administrator) will receive the alert relating to the website visit and the safeguarding team will receive the alert regarding the CPU usage.

I hope this paints a more clear picture of my query.

Correct. Alerts are all-or-nothing; there aren't distinctions between types or kinds of alerts. Anything generated by a rule in Config > Events > Alerts is considered an 'alert' and is sent to any recipient who is configured to receive them.
