  • >100 email alerts for WAN failover

Today I got over 100 alerts of WAN failover. There have been some of these alerts lately. Working with the ISP to figure out the issue.
What I'm wondering is if there is a way to reduce the number of alerts that are sent? Sort of a, if alert age is less than X, don't send. Or really anything else, I'm open to suggestions.
I can think of a way to use Zapier, but that's not ideal.

You're looking for 'limit send frequency' in the alert config itself, found in Config > Events > Alerts:

The threshold settings establish a base number of events over a specific period of time, so depending on the number of events, you might still get quite a few emails. For example, if you set it to something like '10 per 60 seconds' and you've got 30 events a minute, you'll still get three emails.

      Oh wow that's great.
So with thresholds, it would also potentially delay the first alert until the condition was met? With the send limit freq. it would send the alert instantly, then not send another for x minutes?

Correct on both counts. The threshold value means 'don't send an alert till we've seen this many instances of the event'. Send frequency is 'alert once per $timeframe at most', which includes the first one.

Is there a way to get the first alert, then initiate the threshold value? So if the threshold were at say 15, you could get alert #1, then alert #16, #31, etc.
