  • Google Home disconnection issues and/or audio cutting-out

If you have a Google Home smart speaker/Home Assistant that frequently disconnects or just hangs randomly but consistently, you will need to put a bypass rule for "google.com" in the Web Cache.

I hope I can find out the specific URLs that Google Home connects to, but in my haste to get it to work immediately, I settled for the "quick and dirty" and bypassed the whole Google domain.

    Just bypass the device.

I'm not sure how to do that. The Cache Bypass setting only allows me to enter target domains to bypass. How do I bypass specific devices from using the Web Cache?

      Thanks!

EDIT: Ok, I found out how to bypass a specific device under Config>Network>Bypass Rules. However, setting it this way, makes the device bypass all of the apps. I hope it allowed a more granular bypass rule (ie. ability to select which apps a device can or can't bypass).

You also have the option of creating a policy for the device that has Web Cache installed and shut off. That disables the cache for all devices controlled by the policy. The policy can inherit the rest of the apps from the default policy.

          Thank you!

This is exactly what I need.

          Cheers!
